The Moral Force Of Women- Elder D. Todd Christofferson

I came across this talk today from October General Conference just gone. I had somehow not come to read or listen to it. But today I read it, in perhaps no more fitting a situation than with my Sally asleep in my arms (my hot water bottle returned :). Feminism in the way the world portrays it is not my kinda thing. But if feminism is for the promoting of women then this talk is just the thing, and definitely my kind of thing. Sometimes being a stay at home mum you are lead to believe you aren't contributing to society- that you're lazy, you're living off benefits and have no other hobbies or career drive. This is not true- for me most definitely! I have hobbies and a degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology in which I am thoroughly interested in and could develop into a career. But for me my career drive is in my family. And that's the way I want it to be! I accept that some women differ, and in many cases society does not allow all women to be able to stay at home and the family also be provided for. So I am so very grateful to be in the position I'm in where a career outside of the home is a choice not a must. And for now my choice is to stay at home with my little lady (and dare I say it, any children that follow!).
This talk just helped to feel that what I am doing is of worth and that women as a whole have a power so many choose to diminish or hide under a bushel, following the trends and demands of the world around us! I say do what YOU want :) what makes you most happy! But never forget the power you have! Our views and way of life may seem unpopular or "ancient" but they work :D

Guess who's back.... back again....

WOOPEE! WAHOO! OH YEAH!!!
I'm back in the blogesphere! You have no idea how much I have missed it! But being without a laptop and hubby's computer being so faffy, and blogging on an ipad being quite simply a headache, and having a crazy 0-1 year old running (well crawling and waddling) around made this quite difficult! So I decided to take a break :) and just enjoy my little lady and quiet evenings watching lots of telly :D who doesn't love a bit of telly! Especially when you have such good taste as I. Speaking of which I'm currently watching the final episode in this new series called Atlantis on BBC- not normally my kinda thing but my ma and pa recommended it and I LOVE IT! Hercules is my favourite :) good ol' British production! Can't beat 'em! But I have a new laptop so ta'da here I be!

Anyways... back to me, me, me!
So for those of you who don't know the ins and outs of my oh so compelling life, here be an update, in bullet form... the greatest form known to man... and woman... gotta be equal and all that ;) I do love a good feminist :D muahahaha.....
  • Sally Sausage/Sparrow is now 1!!!! And soooooo grown up! I even have to blow dry her hair after she has a bath as her hair is so luscious! While I'm doing it I literally have flashes of that scene from Mamma Mia, the "School bag in hand" one... makes me feel all old and sentimental! Also she finally came off the boobyliscious about a month after turning one! And I defo think it's been harder for me than her :( she doesn't seem bothered but I definitely miss my hot water bottle, especially in this cold weather :(
  • We are currently waiting to hear the completion date for us to move into our own proper house with a mortgage and everything! I really am getting old! I read or heard recently that the average age for someone to get on the property ladder is like 36 or something! I'm only 22 (soon to be 23- also scary!). Was a big ta-do getting the mortgage, but thanks to a lot of prayers and fasting from a lot of LOVELY people we beat the very disproportionate odds! Defo bet on us :) we were hoping to move before Christmas, but now we're glad we didn't! Next week is gonna be packing central!
  • We have a new car! Whose two previous owners were my bro and my ma :) and waaaaay cheaper to run than our previous heap of dead money! We were close to paying someone to take it off us, but luckily it didn't have to come to that. I guess it did us good whilst we had it.
  • My mummy and daddy are now serving a mission! At the Leeds Institute :) another crazy answer to prayers in the whole series of events that led to that! Blessings literally have been pouring out everywhere the last couple of months, and we are so very grateful!
  • I am loving being a stay at home mummy! But did enjoy my first night off duty at Dave's work do just before Christmas :)  crazy to think I didn't leave her for more than an hour before that night.... think someone has attachment issues... and it's not Sally! I just love her so much!!!! I will not be going "back to work" as everyone insistently asks (oh no that doesn't annoy me), but I am going to (with thanks to my new laptop) continue wholeheartedly with my series of novels I have been planning to write! Watch this space!
I think that just about covers it! Nothing too exciting, but life truly is beautiful, even if stressful at times! It is all worth it.
Hope you had and are having the most merriest of Christmases and look forward to a happy and healthy new year!
Sally and I Christmas morning :)

We buy any car....

And we bought one! The Patricks FINALLY have a car!!! We never thought this day would ever come... Dramatic I know... But it's feels like it has been a very long time coming... And boy are we loving our new found pricey freedom! But we're willing to sacrifice some things to be able to keep our VW Polo. It's an old thing but in pretty good condition- the perfect first car for us anyway! I've only driven it a bit and gonna do a few top up lessons with Dave's instructor as it's been nearly 5 years since I've driven!! And, well I've never done a proper hill start before and I was quite literally thrown in the ocean deep the other day. It's safe to say Norfolk has no real hills... And Derbyshire is a WHOLE other ball game! So wish me luck!

So Pippin tried out commuting to work on the scary motorway and has since decided that it will be quicker and also safer to carry on taking the train but with an added buddy, thanks to the cycle to work scheme ( which is pure genius!)

This is him last night working out everything he was gonna wear :) perhaps the most organised for work Dave's ever been. May have had a little giggle too, as he looked a little bit like he was getting ready for his first day of big school ;) gotta love his intrinsic youthfulness! And I can't lie I'm more than a little bit jealous of his super shexxy foldable bike... Yummy! When we picked it up I felt like a kid at Christmas... I know... I'm weird :) so I think a bike with a kiddy seat on the back may be making its way on a list to the North Pole this year!

In other news Sally's all gorge as per usual :) and growing SUPER fast!!! She still just about fits on my chest for naps, though her feet do get a wee bit squished as she super long :)

We love her so much and she's learning new cutie tricks like every day! The latest 2 are blowing raspberries and throwing things like full belt across the room! If only we had proper baseball in this country! She especially enjoyed throwing her play cups full of water out her bath and washing the kitchen floor for us! Think it's time to move onto a big bath!

Well and truly loving life!

Perfect Patricks

Last night was one of those nights. Those little moments when everything seems to come together and you realise just how blessed and practically perfect your life is, and you know you need nothing more than what you've got right there and then.

Dave and I were in our onesies, just lying in bed whilst Sally had her last feed. We read our scriptures and said our prayers and kissed our Sally goodnight and put her down in her basket next to us. We then turned out the light and realised that the moon was pretty much full and shining through the skylight onto us. So we just lie there in each others arms, a snuggly leopard and monkey, with a full nights sleep ahead of us (thanks to darling Sal :) and a life of even greater pleasures awaiting <3

3 months gone!

Can't believe my little Sally Sausage is 3 months old!! We've been comparing her from now to when she was a newbie and the difference is crazy!! She's grown like a whole head in length and has rolls in all the right places!

This is her a day old..

 And her 3 months old!

She clearly has the same hair and nose :D What a cutie! And boy is she an angel of a baby! She's been sleeping through the night since 6 weeks, and the last week has been sleeping around 8-9 hours a night! It's quite literally a dream. She's still 100% breastfed, and continues to refuse a bottle for feeding though she loves it for play time! So I've just had to accept that I won't be going to see Pink in concert in April and that I can't wear my dress collection for another few months- but that may be a blessing in disguise as I'll fit in them really well by then ;)

Motherhood is everything I imagined and more! Love her first smile and laugh and all the other lovely things. So much so her DEADLY (and I mean deadly) nappies don't bother me that much, although at the time I think she's trying to kill me!

She's just such a gorgeous happy girl and everyone cannot get enough of her.. her Nanny Shell and Pops especially!

For those of you that don't know I have started doing vlogs on youtube! Here be the link!
http://www.youtube.com/user/bethybonsslds/videos?view=0&flow=grid

They're mostly beauty and fashion related but I will link any more general life ones to here :D Just that vlogging takes a bit less time than blogging :D

Cheerio!
